Are you a family member or loved one of someone with a gambling addiction?

We find that sharing experiences with other family members or other next of kin provides both motivation and strength to cope with the crisis you are facing.
All our services are free; please get in touch with us!

Anyone can be next of kin – spouses, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, friends, coworkers, managers, other family members, or friends. They are all next of kin in a situation where someone is experiencing a personal crisis.

Now, it will be very important for many to have someone to lean on. Remember that as a next of kin, you need to take care of yourself to be a resource for the person you are caring for. Family members, frienda and/or co-workers also need someone to talk to.

Contact us, and we will listen to you and provide our recommendations for the way forward. Please remember that individuals with gambling addiction have the right to receive treatment for their addiction. Some treatment centers also offer help to family members.

Gambling addiction is when the player no longer has control over their gambling. The game becomes all-consuming and affects family, finances, social relationships, and work or school. It is common for gambling and the problems it causes to be kept hidden for as long as possible.

Many people tend to underestimate or deny their problems, and many are also able to hide the problem. It is common for people with gambling problems to feel shame and guilt, which can make it more difficult to seek help.

The latest population survey (2019) showed that 55,000 Norwegians have gambling problems, and 122,000 are moderate-risk gamblers.

Gambling addiction is classified as a diagnosis and thus entitles individuals to receive treatment. More about gambling addiction and warning signs here.
